Safety as an Integral Part of new Port Infrastructure

With the development of a new berthing facility at Noordkasteeldok, close to Oosterweel Island and the future canal tunnels currently being constructed by Lantis, Port of Antwerp-Bruges is investing not only in modern infrastructure, but also in a safer and more accessible port environment.
An important part of this investment is the continued rollout of a uniform life buoy cabinet system along the waterfront.
The choice for cabinets with a transparent cover is a deliberate one. Not only does it provide clear visibility of the life-saving equipment inside, it also allows any missing or damaged equipment to be identified and replaced more quickly.
The new lifebuoy cabinets from GFE General Floating Equipment have been designed with ease of use in mind. In an emergency situation, both experienced port workers and occasional passers-by should be able to act intuitively and gain rapid access to the available rescue equipment.
Through this standardized approach, Port of Antwerp-Bruges International is taking another important step in further strengthening water safety throughout the port area. It is an investment that demonstrates how safety is not an afterthought in new infrastructure projects, but an essential element from the very beginning.
